Mark G. Borel, CPA

President

A native of south east Texas, Mark Borel has made Reno his home since 1999. Snow skiing, whitewater kayaking and off-roading are just a few of the many activities which attracted him to the Lake Tahoe area of northern Nevada.  

Mark received a degree in Business Administration in 1984 from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and has several years of experience in business management and marketing.   He received his accounting degree from the University of Nevada in 1992, and is licensed as a CPA in both Nevada and Texas with over ten years of experience in public accounting, specializing in taxation and implementation of asset protection strategies.

Mark is the founder and president of Mark Borel & Associates, Inc. and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of CPA’s.  He is a past member of Rotary International and has served on various nonprofit boards, including the Houston Chamber of Commerce as Executive Treasurer.  Mark is also a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and has been registered with Intuit since 1996.

Patrick C. Curley, CPA

Accounting Manager

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Patrick recently relocated to the Reno/Tahoe area from New Orleans after weathering Hurricane Katrina.  He enjoys the great outdoors and all that the Sierra mountains have to offer including camping, hiking, and mountain biking.

Patrick received his degree in accounting from Texas State University in 1986, and has been a licensed CPA for over ten years.  He has many years of diversified accounting and small business management experience including, professional services practice management, and real estate property management.  Patrick currently specializes in accounting and planning for real estate investments.

In addition to being a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Patrick has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Louisiana Society of CPA’s since 1997. 

Samantha R. Turner

Staff Accountant

Born and raised in Coleville, California, Samantha decided early on that she wanted a career in the accounting field and came to Reno in 2004, to attend UNR and pursue her accounting degree. Samantha came to our firm upon graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno in May of 2008. She has a promising future as she continues her studies to sit for the CPA exam in the next year or two.

Samantha is enjoying the Truckee Meadows area and especially loves snowboarding and hiking with her friends. She is a welcomed addition to our firm as she is proving to be an enthusiastic professional providing our standard of excellence and customer service to our valued clients. 

Cindy E. Holly

Office Manager/Administrative Assistant

After spending most of her life in the San Francisco area of California, Cindy relocated to Reno three years ago to be closer to her family.  She enjoys mountain living and the high desert lifestyle, and spends much of her free time with hobbies such as canning, scrapbooking, and traveling.

In addition to managing all firm activities and scheduling, Cindy works directly with our valued clients to coordinate the receipt of accounting information and the timely filing of tax related documents. She has an extensive background in human resource management and client services, and is a professional who is dedicated to the concept of providing exemplary service. 

Elizabeth A. Lane (Beth)

Staff Bookkeeper

After raising her four children in Washington, Beth relocated to the Reno area to escape the rain and enjoy high desert living. Beth and her family especially love the outdoors where they often camp, fish, and hike. In the winter months, snowshoeing is the family’s favorite pastime.

Beth graduated from business college in 1988, with formal training as a legal secretary, and has over 19 years of experience providing accounting services for a wide range of businesses. Beth is a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers, and is a dedicated professional who excels in providing superior service and fulfilling the needs of our clients.
